Optimal Social Media Posting Times

Social Media is by far one of the most important tools in marketing not only for your business, but your own personal brand.

There was once a time where you posted on social media just for the fun of it, but it has truly turned into much more. For just a regular person, it’s pretty much all about gaining followers and driving attention to your page. But for a company it’s more than that. It’s about brand awareness, reaching your target audience, seeing what target customers are talking about, and things they like.

It’s about increasing traffic to your website, seeing what your competitors are doing and so much more. The list is endless. But, you can’t just post whenever you want and expect target audiences to see. There’s a science to social media posting time.

Best Social Media Posting Time for Each Social Media

There are different times and days for each network you use. But it can get tricky sometimes because even though you might find the time that works for your business, times can always change. But we’ll go through the four platforms that we at OneThing use. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

Facebook

This network is our bread butter when it comes to social media. With any social media page, it is of course trial and error when it comes to figuring out the best times to post to and when to do as such. And with this site we have found that the best days and times to post are on weekdays around noon time to about 3:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays being the best. On Saturdays and Sundays you have a small window for many usually have these days off. So they are not glued to their phones or computer. Noon to about 1:00 p.m. is the best time for these two days.

Twitter

Much like Facebook, we have found that the best times to post to this site is at noon to 3:00 pm during the week. Also evenings 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. can also be a target time, especially if you are trying to reach a millennial audience that stays up late browsing on social media. Weekends have more of an open window especially for a millennial audience. After around noon, its pretty much fair game. But we will say the times vary as far as finding an exact target time for Twitter on the weekends.

LinkedIn

We have found that the best time to reach the audience we want is around 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. throughout the week not including Mondays and Fridays for obvious reasons. Because this network is used mainly by professionals and is typically accessed on a laptop or desktop computer we have found that weekends aren’t times that we post. But again it varies for the audience you are trying to reach.

Instagram

For Instagram, we have found that the best time to reach the audience we want on weekdays is around 12pm to 5pm. Weekends can be hit and miss, with Saturday being the worst day to post.

Now these are only four social media outlets that we use out of so many. Each site having different times and days that are best to post. And like we have mentioned before what might work for some might not work for others. It’s all about figuring out the audience you would like to reach and doing your own experiment as to when is the best time and days to post. But we thought we’d give you somewhere to start.
